“Trzy dinozaury i tort”/ “Three dinosaurs and a cake”

Aleksandra Nowicka searches for the thin, often invisible border between memory and reality of the 1990s. She bases her paintings on photos from many family albums. When reconstructing interiors from her childhood with a characteristic style and design, she refers to collective memory and to the category of “Polishness” that transports the recipient back in time. The artist asks questions about the role of objects and photographs in the process of remembering and rediscovering one’s own identity. Nowicka’s paintings invite everybody to her family’s everyday life and encourage the viewer to return to their own roots.
