Designing to tell stories, Amalia Puga enjoys experimenting with materials, combining new and traditional techniques. Inspired by craftsmanship and local cultures, she creates projects that implement local collaborative solutions between people, aiming to empower small villages and collectives with an enriching culture and history. Through her brand Proxecto Bolina, she seeks to revalue groups such as the “redeiras”, a collective of women dedicated to weaving traditional fishing nets in Galicia, whose craft is disappearing. To pass on their craft to new generations, Amalia incorporates the redeiras into the design process, encouraging them to innovate with their traditional knowledge and tools.
